Design team project #2 - by diana

Okay, like i said earlier this week i LOVE this paper line by Kaisercraft Art of Life. there is so much that one can do with it!
so for this project i decided in amongst the cleaning of my room.. which yes unfortunately, or fortunately seem to do at least once a month, that i needed to do something with this so i started by taking out my trusting tim holtz sander to sand off the gloss.
then i cut and ink the inside pieces
and glued them on with one of the bestest glues out there

next it was time to do a bit of decorating to the outside. i added pieces of paper and some of that glorious lace to the front cover
i then started just layer things.. trying to figure out what went where:
i didn't like the whiteness of the papers so i found in my stash some walnut crystals and thought would mix it with a bit of water.. i quite like how it turned out:
now it was just a matter of final placing of everything. i had cut out the circles from one of the pages and folded them to make a flower. i then added one of tim's clock keys in the centre. some stickers from the sticker sheet along the bottom and a butterfly.
i gave everything a final mist of walnut spray. i also added a couple of pieces fabric and lace that i received as part of a happy mail swap.
for the inside it was a matter of stamping pages throughout the pad of paper and stamped the wooden pencil with some of the live/love words.

i have to say it is one of my favourite projects yet and has already found a 'home'. thanks for sticking through the photo heavy post!!!!

DT Project #1 - Diana

HI everyone!!

as the lovely ladies had all shown you this month already we all have been working with Kaisercraft's Art of Life line and the projects before me were totally spectacular i must say!
for my project i decided to follow suit with Minxy and show a video close up of my project followed with a  few pictures.

i must say i absolutely loved working with this line of paper.. the neutral tones were so my style!!!
so here is my video:

and here are the close up pictures including a few befores and durings!! so here is the plain book i started with.
i used my ruler and a fiskars rotary trimmer and cut out some centres all the way through.
i coloured the cut outs with my lovely tim holtz distress markers
because i had mod podged sections of my book together it allowed me to use the cards as tabs on each section. i really love how it turned out. i find it very antique/vintage like!!

i hope you enjoyed my project! i will see you again at the end of the week!!

DT Project No 3 by Lucy Edmondson - Featuring Kaisercraft Art of Life

Hi, Lucy here with my final project using the Kaisercraft Art of Life collection, and another home decor item. I used a cardboard chest of drawers which was a horrible shade of green and had contained toiletries, so first of all I painted it with Fresco Finish Little Black Dress. The drawers had fabric drawer pulls which I decided to retain. I cut pieces of the various papers to fit the sides, base, and drawer fronts and stamped them with a selection of the stamps as before, using Smoky Grey and Onyx Black ink.

I stamped the leaves from the Art of Life stamp set onto the grid paper and made rolled roses from a die as before. I added some black die cut leaves and some pearls and arranged these on the top.

I wanted to use the knobs from the sticker sheet included in the paper pack so I cut into the centre of the circle of the knob and then cut out the centre and pulled the fabric pulley through it.

To finish off, I used black dominoes for the feet. I hope you have enjoyed my makes with this gorgeous range. Look out next week for beautiful artwork from my teamie, Diana, and don't forget to leave comments to be in with a chance in the prize draw!

DT Project No 2 by Lucy Edmondson - Featuring Kaisercraft Art of Life

Hi, Lucy here again. For my second make this week I have made a card which could be given to the recipient when my two home decor items are given as gifts. It is an 8 x 8 stepper card so pretty big as I wanted to have scope to use plenty of the papers. I cut a panel of the film strip paper Thankful for the main front piece and two smaller pieces, one of the book paper Moments, and another piece of Thankful for the folded front pieces and a large piece of Moments for the inside panel. I stamped all over the pieces with a selection of the stamps with Smoky Grey and Onxy Black VersaFine in the same way as I did for the mirror, adding in a Kaisercraft set called Periwinkle which I just had to buy as it seemed to replicate the flowers in the designs.

For the pop up piece on the front stepped section I die cut a doily shape out of the Remember paper (and an extra piece in black card for strength). I stamped leaves from the Art of Life stamp set onto the grid paper and made some rolled roses as for the mirror. I fussy cut a floral sprig and a butterfly from the Collectables pack and stamped Admit One from the Life Sentiments stamp set onto the little butterfly tag and assembled these onto the doily. I then adhered the bottom half to the front panel so that it popped. You can see the back of it below where the card is laid flat.

To finish off, I added a plain Collectables tag inside the card to allow the greeting to be written. I will be back on Friday for my final make.

DT Project No 1 by Lucy Edmondson - Featuring Kaisercraft Art of Life

Hi, Lucy here, with the first of three blog posts this week using this absolutely gorgeous kit from Kaisercraft Art of Life. This range lends itself perfectly to home decor items as it has a very subtle colour palette, which is my way of saying my husband would not give house-room to most of my gaudy creations! It was so easy to work with as it is impossible to 'overdo it', however many layers or embellishments you add.

I added in some extra Kaisercraft stamp sets, Flutter, Everyday Sentiments, Everyday Friendship, and a grid stamp.  I covered the mirror with the floral Everyday paper and used all of the stamps, including the Film Strip set from the kit, all over using Smoky Grey and Onyx Black VersaFine.

I then fussy cut some large flower and leaf elements from Creative and Remember which I glued top right and bottom left. I used some of the paper to make some spiral roses top left and stamped some of the leaves from the Art of Life stamp set onto the Grid side of the Remember paper and added these, with some die cut leaves and one of the stick pin hearts from last month's kit. I edged the frame and the mirror with the lace included in our kits and used the tiny scrap that was left to add to the tiny 'Let Life Happen' tag from the Collectables pack on the left, and also used a butterfly from the pack on the bottom right.

To finish off I stamped the words from the Art of Life stamp set onto the Grid side of the Remember paper and added an ornate frame. The frame was silver so I coloured it with a black alcohol based marker, added some brads, and raised it up on foam pads.

I will be back again on Wednesday with my next make.

DT project #2 by Claire - featuring Kaisercraft Art of Life

Hi everyone,

Claire here again to share my second project using the Kaisercraft Art of Life DT kit.

Today I want to share a little ATC book I made:

I created my project by cutting two ATC size pieces of kraft card.  I stamped the film strip edge stamps all over the ATC's using second generation Orange Blossom archival ink to create a muted background.

Next I torn sections of the Art of Life papers and added them to each side of the ATC's.  I then added various elements from the kit to the ATC's - I coloured the butterflies using distress markers.  There are so many wonderful elements in this kit - keys, butterflies, flowers, dominoes and some lovely sentiments too.

I edged all the ATC's with Potting Soil archival ink then used my crop-o-dile to add two eyelets to the left hand side.  To finish I attached the ATC's together into a little book using some of the lace from the kit.

Thanks for stopping by this week - leave a comment to be in with a chance of winning these lovely Art of Life papers!

Don't forget to pop back next week to see what Lucy got up to with this lovely kit!

DT project #1 by Claire - featuring Kaisercraft Art of Life

Hi Snazzy fans!

Claire here this week to share my projects made with the beautiful Kaisercraft Art of Life collection.

For my first project I really wanted to use a technique I recently saw from Ellen Vargo - brayering with paint. You can take a look at Ellen's blog HERE

So I started by brayering a piece of white card with Paperartsy Fresco paints in Ice Blue, Lake Wanaka, Blush and Moonlight. I did this randomly and left some of the original white card still showing.

Next I used the larger of the two leaf stamps in the kit to stamp all over the brayered background using black versafine ink. I cut the background piece down to size and added a piece of the wonderful linen ribbon that came in the kit this month.  I mounted this onto black card stock before adding the sentiment from the kit. Finally the whole piece was added to a kraft DL card blank.

So thanks for stopping by today, I'll be back again later in the week with another project using the Kaisercraft Art of Life kit!

Love Claire x
